This day started with all of us packing our things and getting on the bus. We would not see our luggage all day and a shower until an unknown time tomorrow (in Rome). After loading our belongings on the bus, we headed for the Palace of Versailles.
Once at the palace we received mp3 players with audio guides to help us understand a bit more about what we were looking at. After some confusion about when to start listening, we were able to get on the right track and meander our way through the 10,000 room hunting lodge turned palace.
Highlights of this tour (for me) were the hall of mirrors, the King an
d Queen's bed chambers, and what little bit I was able to see of the gardens. You could spend days wandering the massive gardens that surround this palace! What we were able to see was very impressive.

Women of the court used to put layers of wax (with lead in it) on their faces to make their skin look smooth. It worked as long as you never smiled (this is where the phrase "crack a smile" comes from). It also led to skin cancer in many cases.
Prior to heading back into Paris for our last afternoon we grabbed lunch at a nearby cafe. For me this was our first chance to get "real" french food. I jumped at the chance. This days meal was a delight for the eyes as well as the tongue. Check it out! If the picture doesn't do it justice, let me tell you, "It was fab-u-lous!"
